Tiramisu - halal style :)

This is another easy recipe, which tastes so good, you probably would wanna have seconds...possibly even thirds!!! :)

What you will need

15 oz of lady fingers (or in normal human terms, around 400g of boudoir fingers - picture shown below)

6 eggs
1 cup of very concentrated coffee
10 tbsp sugar
2 + 1/3 cup mascarpone cheese (i just use the full pack that is bought)
unsweetened cocoa powder

This is the boudoir fingers i buy for the tiramisu recipe.
Directions to make
1) Get two bowls. Separate the eggs putting the egg yolk in one bowl and egg whites in another
2) In the egg yolk bowl, add half the sugar and beat well until all the sugar dissolves
3) To this mixture, add the mascarpone cheese and mix well
4) In the egg white bowl, add the rest of the sugar and beat very well until the mixture becomes very fluffy (using an electric whisk might make life much easier)
5) Gently mix the egg white mix into the egg yolk mix, and fold to form a 'custard' mix
6) In a deep serving dish, soak the boudoir fingers in the coffee (i would say dip it in for a 2 seconds either side) and align them on the base of the dish
7) Once a layer is formed, cover generously with the custard mix (don't use it all up, because you still have another layer to go)
8) Sprinkle coco powder over the custard layer
9) Repeat steps 6-8, but this time align the boudoir fingers in the opposite way you did to begin with (so for example if you first aligned them upright, now align them sideways)
10) Leave in the fridge for as long as possible (i would say 24 hours would be good, otherwise the tiramisu will still have runny custard)

Some people get put off when you tell them this recipe uses raw eggs, but if you don't mention it, no one will know, because there is no egg taste to it. Just make sure you use fresh eggs, or at least eggs within their best before date! (I am not taking responsibility for what could happen as a result of using raw out of date eggs!)

Not the best shot, sorry!

That is all for the tiramisu halal style recipe :) who said you need alcohol to make something tasty! This will surely impress, so please give it a go and let me know how it turns out.

  6. Hey There! Tough I have not tried it yet, the recipe sounds great. I just wanted to ask that can I use any other biscuits if I cannot get ladyfingers?

    Anaan Ramay!

    1. Yes no problem - any soft biscuit that will absorb the coffee will work well. Enjoyyyy :)
