Apple and banana crumble

Apples and bananas were starting to go old, so the dessert that came to mind to use up these fruits was an apple and banana crumble.

  • Prep time: 15 mins
  • Cooking time: 50 mins
What you will need:

For the filling

2 apples
2 bananas
100g sultanas
1 lemon, zest and juice
1 tbsp cinnamon
100g butter
100g brown sugar

For the crumble

300g plain flour
300g unsalted butter
1 pinch of salt

How to make:

1) To make the filling, peel and dice the apples and slice the bananas

2) Heat the butter in a pan and sauté the fruits

3) Add the brown sugar, zest and juice of a lemon, cinnamon and the sultanas. Cook until caramelised

4) To make the crumble, combine the flour, butter and salt in a bowl and mix using your hands until well incorporated

5) Place the filling into an oven proof dish, and place the crumble on top

6) Bake in an oven at 180 degrees Celsius for around 50 minutes

7) Serve hot alone or with custard

With custard

If I were to make this again, I would decrease the amount of lemon in the filling. Otherwise, this was a tasty apple and banana crumble.

If you would like to know how to make the custard, please let me know. As for now, enjoy as always :)
