Easy peasy apple crumble

I know it hasn't been long since I made the apple and banana crumble, but a good friend requested apple crumble, its its pure form :) So here is a very easy apple crumble recipe, fit for a 10 year old to make....or...maybe not!

  • Skill level: easy as 1 2 3 :)
  • Serves: 6-7 people
  • Prep time: 10-15mins
  • Cooking time: 35-40 mins
What you will need:

150g self raising flour
120g butter
180g granulated sugar
3 medium cooking apples, peeled, cored and sliced into medium slices
Optional:
1/2 cup oats (highly recommend)
3/4 tsp cinnamon (also highly recommend)

How to make:

1) Rub the butter and flour together using your finger tips until the texture is like fine breadcrumbs (takes a few minutes). Add the oats at this point if you wish, followed by 120g of the sugar and mix together well

2) Place the apples in a casserole dish, and sprinkle on the cinnamon if you wish. Sprinkle the remaining sugar evenly over the apples, then spread the crumble mixture on top

3) Place in the oven on 180 degrees Celsius for 40 minutes

I told you it was as easy as 1 2 3 :) It is only 3 steps and your done!!! Enjoyyyyy :)

  1. Yummmy appley crumbley, loved this dessert as a child for school dinners and still love it :) Just wanted to ask about the 3/4 tsp of cinnamon, is it ok if I add 1 tsp instead because I really like the taste of cinnamon, or do you think the whole recipe would get ruined? Sorry about the lengthy post.

    1. Aww thank you for your comment :) I wonder if anyone doesn't like apple crumble...tastes so good!

To be honest, the recipe required less cinnamon, but like you are saying, I really like the cinnamon taste so I upped it to 3/4 tsp....so I don't see the harm in increasing it further to 1 tsp...there wasn't a super strong cinnamon taste at 3/4 tsp anyway..so should be fine :)

Hope it works well for you...

  5. Assalaamu alaykum, did you just use normal apples to make this? Or can you actually buy "cooked" apples?
