Chocolate chip & walnut cookies

My little sister really wanted a treat, and I had chocolate chip cookies on my 'to do list', lol, so I thought why not give these a go..

  • Skill level: Easy
  • Makes: 18-20 cookies
  • Prep time: 10 mins
  • Baking time: Approx 15 mins per tray
What you will need:

3/4 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup (225g) butter, softened
1 tbsp vanilla extract
2 eggs
3 cups plain flour
3/4 tsp bicarbonate of soda
3/4 tsp salt
3 cups chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts

How to make:

1) Place the sugar and butter in a large bowl, and whisk until creamed together

2) Add the vanilla extract and eggs, and mix together well

3) In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients, then gradually add them to the other mixture, mixing with a large spoon to combine, until you have a well combined mixture

4) Stir in the chocolate chips and walnuts
This is still in the mixing process
5) On a non-stick sheet, roll the dough into golf-sized balls, and place around 2 inches apart

6) Place in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius, for around 15 mins (but keep an eye on them from 10 mins onwards)

7) Place on a wire rack to cool

When making these, I got worried that the flour seemed like such a large amount, but just keep mixing and it will be fine. Also, the added walnuts to these cookies give them an even better taste. These are definitely a treat, especially for those with a sweet tooth. Enjoy :)
