Crispy fried bbq chicken wings

This was a recipe request for fried bbq wings, and as unhealthy as they sound, they really were a crispy treat!
I have made healthier sticky wings before: which you may wish to check out.

This recipe is super easy and super delicious, it will get all sticky and messy when your eating it - but I think that is what makes it even more yummy! :)

  • Skill level: Easy
  • Makes: 20 chicken wing pieces (10 full wings cut in half)
  • Preparation time: 10 mins
  • Cooking time: Altogether 20-25 mins
What you will need:

10 chicken wings, skin on, cut in two parts at the joint
1/4 cup milk
1/2 tbsp paprika
1/2 tbsp tandoori powder
1/2 cup plain flour
1/2 tbsp paprika
1/2 tbsp tandoori powder
1/4 tbsp salt
1/4 tbsp black pepper
10 tbsp bbq sauce
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp sweet chilli sauce

How to make:

1) Prepare your chicken wings by cleaning them and patting them dry. In a bowl add the milk, paprika and tandoori powder then mix. In a separate bowl, add the plain flour, paprika, tandoori powder, salt and black pepper and mix

2) Heat up oil for frying over medium/high heat. Once the oil is hot, coat each wing piece in the milk, then coat it in the flour. Shake off the excess flour and place it in the hot oil. Fry the wings until crispy and golden then remove onto kitchen paper to drain the excess oil (you may need to fry them in batches)

3) In a pan, add the bbq sauce, ketchup and sweet chilli sauce over medium heat. Once the mixture bubbles, remove from the heat

4) Re-fry your chicken wings in hot oil for a few more minutes to crisp them up completely, then remove and place them straight away in the bbq mixture. It may be hard to coat them completely so use your fingers to help ensure they are fully coated - serve

You may need more bbq sauce after you coat your first batch of chicken wings, so you can easily make it whilst your next batch of chicken wings is re-frying.
This was super super delicious - crunchy yet sticky! Absolutely amazing! Enjoy :)
